Maybe there is another brand that would closely match? Is the dormer roof going to end up in a position that is easily visible from the street?

Hi, Just an Idea, If you can't match the shingle try a different approach. Contrast colors. You Have dark charcol colored shingles, maybe white or red make it look like you planned it that way.

Every company makes a similar color shingle. The older shingle on the original roof may not match the new because of weathering or airborne dirt.

am going to be renovating OLD house, now gutted. unfortunately, the front part of house has new roof about 5 years old
project will involve adding a small 2-story addition and an even smaller 1-story addition, all to stay on same footprint and allow bedroom/bath on first floor.

my contractor says.. oh, donâÂÂt worry we can match those shingles. i am thinking he is wrong but is trying to save me cost of replacing the 5-year old shingles. also, there will be a small metal roof on 2 sides of house. am worried it will look like a patchwork quilt!

would greatly appreciate your opinions.

I added on a portion of my house after our roof was about 5 yrs old. They were able to have a match, and I can't see a difference. Hope yours works the same way.

Consider not doing valley weaves, but having any valleys be cut and flashed--should make any mismatch much less noticeable.

Remember, even an exact match isn't going to match for a few years. Since you're stuck looking at a mismatch anyway, maybe that'll make looking at something kinda close a little easier.

I like the contrasting idea best. It'll look like you planned it that way.

We went with a metal roof that matched the color of the existing roof. I am not sure that matching is all that important as long as the metal relates to something. Trying to match exactly will never work.
