Pocket Doors - Existing Bath and Bypass Pocket Doors

I have some experience with pocket doors but am considering a remodeling project that involves some trickier installations.

1) Pocket door on existing bath where one side of the wall has tile that I do not want to remove. The wall is 2x4 framed. Is there any way to install a pocket door while preserving the tile? The pocket would need to extend behind the tile for approx 16". Not sure if this would weaken the wall too much.

2) I have a situation where I want to install sliding doors as a room divider. The space is about 82" wide and floor to ceiling. I'm thinking of using two 42" doors. Both doors would need to slide to the same side and could either be enclosed in a pocket or left visible. Is this feasible?
