popcorn renovation

We are in the process of remodeling our home built in the late 80's. We've done this a few times already but this will be our last big renovation before retirement. Although we have no plans of ever selling, one never knows.

We've got all the bases covered for updating: exterior re=sided, landscaping updated, a small entry and pantry addition, new windows, new kitchen cabinets, new trim, paint throughout and hardwood flooring, and new furniture, etc.

Just yesterday , repainting the ceiling was completed. But we've been thinking that we may have overlooked a needed updated... the two main rooms : the living room and dining room have a rough texture ceiling - kind of like sandpaper, pretty sure sprayed -on application, not a true "popcorn" texture.

From a updating and renovating viewpoint, is this a major or minor updated ? How important do you think it would be to go back and change them ?

Thanks
