Changing the swing direction of a door?

Is it possible to keep the existing door frame but change the hinges to the other side so a door swings the other way (i.e. the doorknob was on the left, now it's on the right, and the door swings into the same room as before)? I realize you'd need a new door, just trying to avoid taking out the whole frame. I've been trying to find information about this on the internet, but don't even know what to search for. Would it just be easier to remove the entire door and frame and replace them?
We have a door that opens from the kitchen to the mudroom. I want to add lockers but they would be blocked by the swing of the door. If I could just make the door swing toward the washer/dryer everything would be great.
Any info or ideas would be a great help!
Thanks.

Yes, that is the way to do that---switch the hinge and latch sides. That leaves the old hinge mortises exposed, but if the frame is painted, you can fill the mortises with Bondo---yup, the car body repair stuff---sand smooth and paint.

If there is a working lock on the door, the handles will need to be reversed as well. The latch part will have to be turned 180 degrees anyway---so the flat side contacts the striker plate.

You don't need to replace the door at all, like handymac says - if the door is plain, ie not panelled, you could just flip it end-for-end then it's oriented the right way.

Any competent handyperson can rehang a door, I've lost count of how many I've done....you need a helper to hold it, basically hold it in place and mark on the frame where the hinges go. Don't forget to allow clearance top and bottom, I've also found a chisel or screwdriver with a block of wood under, is a handy fulcrum to lift the door (using your foot) to where it needs to be. Just some wood filler on the old hinge spots etc and you're done.

You need a hammer, mallet and chisel, that's about it...oh plus a drill and appropriate hardware to redo the door lock if you need to. If the door's panelled, you need to spin the door 180 degrees, so you'll need to swap the hinge to the other side of the door, and reverse the lock.

What do I have to do to change the door from opening into the closet to opening into the room? The doorknob should not need changeing position.
