Looking for recs on brand/product for drywall for hall and kitchen reno. Most of what's in the local big box stores is the ultralight stuff, but what I care about is quality and durability of the finished wall, not so much cost or ease of install.

The rest of the house has 3/4" (yes, really that thick) of sheet plaster (an early drywall product from the 1930s). Much of it then covered with veneer plaster, so some of the walls are about 1". It's heavy as lead, but very good at muffling sound, resisting mold and keeping out the summer heat. Plus it's really hard to dent and has a nice, sturdy feel. Any modern products perform like this? Any that can be made to?
