| We have rusted hardware and someone at Lowe's suggested stray painting it with silver rustoleom. Has anyone given it a try? |

| "rusted hardware" is not brass. It is more likely brass plated steel, and the pinholes in the brass plating have allowed the steel to rust. Unless it is very hard to get stuff you may want to just replace it. |
