Removing Wall - how will this look?

In an effort to bring more light into the great room, we want to remove part of a wall between this room and adjacent dining room which has a large window. To do so, and avoid an oddly placed column, our contractor suggests removing the also adjacent foyer header wall (non load bearing) which would result in one uninterrupted ceiling expanse from the foyer thru to the great room.

While I think this is a good solution to avoid the column, I am concerned about losing the trimmed casement opening from foyer to great room. It would be just one continuous space.

This is an 80's era very traditional ranch. All the trim will be painted white and all rooms the same white/cream/ivory (tbd). We just want to open it up and make it fresher and lighter.

Would losing the cased opening from the foyer to the great room look odd?

here's a photo from the GR to the foyer. The room with the window is the DR. The wall behind the floor lamp would be removed. The wall above the stained trimmed opening would be gone. The white trimmed opening to the DR would now be extended and go from 48" wide to about 108" wide.

first time posting photos, hope it works! Thanks for any comments/advice!
