andersen storm door freezing

hello - this may not be the proper forum but here goes - i have an andersen storm door full view that along w/ a new entry door was installed about 3 years ago - i have had a freezing problem (the entire door freezes up w/ frost & ice) during the winter months - i have contacted andersen about this & was told today that my relatively new entry door needs weather stripping to stop this problem - i do not see how a 3 hyear old entry door needs weather stripping - i believe the storm is defective - i seem to be getting no where w/ andersen - anyone else have this problem or any compensation from andersen? - thank you

Why aren't they fixing it under the warranty (presumably it worked for a couple of years?)?

Water/moisture is what causes the door to freeze. If water/moisture cannot get to the door, it will not freeze.

The water/moisture has to be coming from inside the house.

I have a back entry door with an metal storm door. They are six years old. If I let out the dogs and do not fully close the entry door, the storm ices over and could stick shut. If I fully close the entry door, the storm stays frost/ice free.

Your problem is not Andersens problem---unless the entry door is also their brand. Even if they replace the storm, the problem will still exist.

You need an opinion from an experienced door installer as to what is causing the problem.

While purchasing the door, did you get any warranty period? What was duration of warranty? You should have called them up with certain problem that might have short out without investing penny.

hello again & thank you for the replies - the storm is always closed - i keep the dead bolt on all the time & w/ our northeast ohio winters i know to make sure it is closed - the entry door is closed also - it never stands open during the winter - i called andersen today & they win - i was given a "technical specialist" who told me that it is a moisture problem & i could look it up on the internet to find out what causes it - good thing he was not a heart surgeon - he might have told me to look it up on the internet & do it myself - even before the conversation started he bluntly told me "you are NOT getting a new door" - i have never asked for one only to fix the problem - after i got upset w/ him i told him to send me some proof that this was the problem - he told me that they were not about to send me anything & i could do whatever i needed to do the matter was closed - i wish i could find the direct address to the andersen ceo so that i could inform him about his so-called "technical specialist" - just a company lackey who read me a form letter - oh well live & learn - i will never buy another andersen product ever nor will i suggest anyone else do so - i am a reasonable person - i just wanted some help from what i thought was a good company whom i have spent good money on a number of times w/ no problems - thank you again

Again, it cannot be the storm doors problem. Any brand would have the same problem.

Find an experienced handyperson or door installer and have them look at the doors.

They will be able to determine the cause and hopefully the repair.

It is definitely sn issue with the Andersen storm door we have the same problem. we had NO problemss with the screen door we replaced. The installer who came to look at the door said he finds this isssue common with tbe Andersen storm door Do not buy!

I have the same icing problem with both my front and side storm doors. They are both Andersen brand. I'm very disappointed with them.
