Exerior Pocket Doors

Hello,

I would like to replace a 6 foot patio slider with a 36" door but I don't want it swinging into the space.

Is there such a thing as an exterior pocket door that works like an interior pocket door such that when the door is open it is buried in the exterior wall.

Pocket doors are very hard to weatherstrip adequately for exterior use.

They are going to leak like crazy (both air and liquid).

Install the door so it swings out.

What brickeyee said about sliders is dead right.

You can get a Lift and Slide pocket door, not cheap but definitely available. Look into Solar Innovations, Panda or Weiland as some of the brands available.

We have used Parrett Doors for exterior pocket doors. they are very pricey, but work great. They are installed in northeast
in a very windy and snowy location and we have had no trouble with them whatsoever. The installation must be perfect as they are very heavy doors. I believe Rochester Doors in Rochester NY also make these doors. We did a clear 16' opening with 4 panels with 2 going each direction. You need a 24' plus rough opening to do this. They do not leak, but very $$$$.
