I am thinking of removing a wall between the living room & kitchen in my approx 70 yr old ranch house. Currently there is a small archway to enter the hall from the living room, then a left turn thru another archway to enter the kitchen. I had thought about opening the wall, where the piano is & install French doors, so I could keep the dogs from rushing the front door. But the question is where would the door on the right open to with the arch still there? So I'm thinking of just removing the wall all the way thru & eliminating the archway. Any thoughts? And what would the estimated cost be. I do believe this is a weight bearing pe all & I'd be o.k. with a visible header.
