I doubt that most people would know or even care. For me the issue would be which ones looked best in the location. You might want to also consider power-coated metal or enameled metal...white, black, or another color, which can look quite nice.

If they are used very much the microscopically thin brass plating will soon wear off of the plated ones exposing the pot metal underneath. Most plated hardware doesn't look nearly as good as the real thing to start with and the difference grows with age.

Thanks all for your input! I think I'll just get brass since I want the hooks to be strong and last a long time. The powder coating sounds like a great idea!
