Trim replacement

Hello,

We recently purchased a home and wanted to update it a little by replacing the old trim. It's solid pine and painted white like we like. It does show normal wear though. Will putting on new trim refresh the look of the house? Thanks.

It depends on the age of the house, the size and profile of the existing trim and the size and profile of the proposed replacement.

Just paint it. It's amazing what a good paint job after a bit of wood filler can do.

I agree if the old trim is still in good shape just repaint it.

@jback: It's going to cost more than you think. Also finishing the trim will take some time. When replacing it, you may also need to repaint.

Ditto Geoffrey's post. Especially if looking to replace with same/similar profiles, if not stock. Oh my goodness, the pricing. Really wish I did my homework on trim replacement before I had originals ripped out. If I had done my homework thoroughly, I would have done exactly what hollysprings suggested. And some of mine were not in the best shape.
