house built on wood piling

my house was built in 1982 on wood pilings in sand. I get a lot of cracks in the walls. Is the house still settling ? Should I put concrete over the sand? Is there anything to do abt the wood pilings?

    You live at the beach?

Yes, I live at the beach. I noticed several homes have cemented over the sand and I was wondering if that is a smart thing to do.
    Thanks

No, it's pretty much the dumb thing to do. The smart thing would be to construct concrete piers instead of wood piers.

What would I gain by having concrete piers instaed of wood piers on sand? Wouldn't I still have the same problems? Isnt it the sand that is the problem? Who can I contact to look at the situation?

    Thanks

Wood piers are fine as long as they stay wet. Much of the city of Venice, Italy is built on wood pilings.

You will need to have a geological engineer look at your situation. There should be several min your area that have experience with the foundation methods/earth conditions.
