I've done thousands of counters with 3 cm material. Only a couple wanted a laminated edge, and it was for a very modern style kitchen where a mitered edge was used to give it a VERY substantial look. As in appearing to be 6" thick.

It's all in what you want though. And are willing to pay for. 3cm fabricators do not do this as a matter of course like with 2 cm ones, and it will be a costly upcharge.

Thinner stuff (2 cm) is usually laminated at the edge.

3 cm already looks pretty thick.
