LOOKING for: Swiss steak No tomatoes.

My aunt, who is now deceased, made swiss steak and it had no tomaotes or peppers in it. Lots of onions yes, and a gravy.
Does anyone have a similar recipe like that for swiss steak? I would love to have it again.

My Favorite Swiss Steak

2/3 Flour
1/2 tsp. black pepper
2 lbs. boneless round steak
2 Tbs. vegetable oil
1 envelope 1 oz. onion soup mix
1 1/2 c. water

Combine flour and pepper on waxed paper. Dredge the steaks one at a time in the flour mixture to coat on all sides. Heat oil in large skillet (I use a dutch oven)over mediuam-high heat or an electric frying pan. Working in batches if necessary. Add steaks to hot oil; brown on all sides. Return all the steaks to skillet. Sprinkle meat wtih onion soup mix. Add the 1 1/2 cups to 2 cups of water to the skillet. Reduce heat; simmer covered for 1 1/2 2 hour or until very tender. Check every half hour or so to make sure the steaks aren't getting dry. Add water as needed. The steaks make their own gravy. Enjoy!
