Help with this recipe

This gumdrop cake has the best flavor but falls apart when I slice it. way too crumbly
What should I do the next time I bake this cake to make it stick together?
I just got the recipe the other day from a friend.
Whats in the recipe that would cake it to be so crumbly? Anything I need to change to make it work?
Here is the recipe:

Gumdrop Cake

2 sticks butter
1 8 oz. pkg. cream cheese
1 1/2 cups white sugar
4 eggs
2 1/4 cups flour
1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
2 tsp. baking powder
2 cups gum drops
1/2 cup walnuts

Put 1/4 cup of the flour over the gum drops coating well. Beat the
butter and the sugar, add eggs one at a time and beat well after each
addition. Beat in the cream cheese and the vanilla. Add flour, baking
powder and gumdrops. Mix well. Put in a well greased tube pan and
bake at 325 F 60 minutes. Note: I use the sugared gum drops
not the baking ones.

Try beating longer after adding flour (to develop gluten) --- then stir in the gumdrops.

Cute cake idea.

Too much fat in relation to the flour...
No matter what you do it won'te ver be "cake".

What do you recommend Linda - reduce butter to one stick?
