LOOKING for: Your favorite Asian Lettuce Wrap recipe

Posted by cookingrvc (My Page) on

I recently saw a picture from Ann T (I think) of Asian wraps and it gave me a wool-e-ah (that's dialect Italian for 'a desire') for it. I am back to work tomorrow and looking for something different for dinner tonight.

thanks, Sue

I wonder if you might like rice paper wrappers. They're super thin, so you can still use tons of lettuce inside, but it sort of holds everything together. My favorite filling is shredded chicken, tons of lettuce, peanut sauce, and big fresh mint or basil or cilantro leaves. (That might be just fine without the rice paper, if you're so inclined, but the wrapper adds a really interesting texture and not that many carbs)

Thanks Jessica. I left to go grocery shopping before your post, but had found this one that looked good (some of her other stuff looks good too).

I wung it (used ground pork and beef plus other subs) and it came out great...messy to eat, but great.

Definitely a do over.

Sue

Asian Lettuce Wraps are all basically the same, give or take a few ingredients. Ground meat, chicken, pork, beef, seasonings - garlic, onions, green onions, cilantro, ginger, etc... Something crunchy, peanuts, bean sprouts, water chestnuts,etc.... and some sort of dipping sauce that may or may not contain soy sauce. One of those things that can be changed up and adjusted to suit ones own taste.

Glad you found a recipe that you liked Sue. They really are messy to eat aren't they. LOL!

I change my veggie wraps up with nori (seaweed wraps for sushi), nice sized collard leaves and rice papers.

On the first bite, the shredded carrots fall out. LOL.

I seal them sometimes with a tied green onion. Then I dip away....
