RECIPE: fresh pickles

this is an old family receipt. i really enjoy it.

3 or 4 med cukes pealed and sliced thin.

two med sweet onions sliced thin.

a big tablespoon of honey or two tablespoons of sugar

juice of three or four big limes.

salt and pepper to taste. i use cayenne pepper.

enough water to just cover.

mix well and let chill ir frig.

serve 4 to 6 people for a dinner salad.

Mmmm Good! as i sister would say.

i use Boston Pickling cuks and Texas Sweet onions.

Sounds good, thanks for the recipe. With the cayenne, it sounds similar to my favorite sweet/hot store bought pickles, Wickles.

I grew up with a similar recipe, but my aunt used vinegar instead of lime and no cayenne. I picked up some nice pickling cukes at the farmer's market this morning. I plan to make this and use my thai peppers from the yard for "kick". Sounds really good! Thanks for posting this!

Oh, I love the Wickles too. My grocery store no longer carries the relish but they do carry Wickles peppers--great!
