LOOKING for: candy strawberries....

Posted by patsy-grow (My Page) on

I used to have a recipe for candy strawberries and I seem to have lost it. They were delicious! I remember they had coconut in them and they were rolled in a strawberry shape and the bottom was rolled in red sugar and the top rolled in green sugar. I'm guessing there was probably cream cheese in them but I don't know. Anyway.....they looked like a plate of strawberries sitting on the table. Impressive!

I don't know if these are the ones you are looking for. They are very pretty.

Candy Strawberries

2 (3 ounce) packages strawberry flavored gelatin
1 cup ground pecans
1 cup flaked coconut
3/4 cup sweetened condensed milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 (2.25 ounce) jar red decorator sugar
5 drops green food coloring
1/4 cup sliced almonds

Combine gelatin, pecans, and coconut. Stir in milk and vanilla; mix well. Chill one hour.
Shape into strawberries. Roll in red sugar; tint sliced almonds with green food coloring and insert in top of "berries" to form leaves.
