    Dish Bread

This is the easiest yeast bread you will ever make. Its texture is a bit more coarse than many yeast breads, but it is wonderfully moist, perfumes your whole house while baking, and is irresistible when warm from the oven. Also, it makes excellent toast.
    1 cup warm milk (110°F)
    1/4 cup honey
2 packages of yeast (4 teaspoons)
1 egg (at room temperature), lightly beaten
    1-1/2 tablespoons melted butter
    1-1/2 teaspoons salt
    3/4 cup very warm water
    4-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    Preheat oven to 375°F.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the warm milk, yeast and honey. Stir and let stand for 10 minutes.

Mix the egg, butter, salt and water into the milk mixture. Gradually add the flour, stirring until well blended.

Cover the bowl and allow dough to rise in a warm place until more than doubled in bulk (about 40 minutes). Stir the dough down and beat for 30 seconds.

Pile the dough into a greased bowl (a 1-1/2 quart Pyrex casserole dish will give you a nice, round loaf). Bake for about 50 minutes. Brush melted butter on the top of the loaf when it's just out of the oven.

Can anyone tell me if this can be made in a bread machine?

Sounds to me like it's a batter bread. Why would you want to put it into a bread machine?
Read the recipe....you mix the ingredients, stir with a spoon, cover and let it rise, stir again and pile into a pyrex bowl to bake.

INGREDIENTS for LOW-CARB Bread (will make 3 loaves, 12 slices each for 7.3 carbs and 91.2 calories per slice)

Â 1 tablespoon active dry yeast
    Â 1 teaspoon white sugar
    Â 1/4 cup warm water
    Â 1 3/4 cups warm water
    Â 1/4 cup vegetable oil
    Â 1 egg
    Â 1 tablespoon lemon juice
Â 1/2 cup whole wheat flour
    Â 1 1/2 cup ground flax seed
    Â 1/4 cup bran flakes
    Â 1/2 cup bread flour
    Â 1 cup rye flour
    Â 2 cups soy flour
    Â 2 teaspoons salt

    DIRECTIONS

    1. In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast and sugar in ¼ cup warm water.
    2. In a large bowl, mix remaining 1 ¾ cups warm water, oil, egg and lemon juice. Mix well. Add yeast mixture and stir.
    3. Measure flax and set to one side.
    4. Mix all flours and bran flakes together.
    5. Gradually add ¾ of total flours to the wet mixture; beating well after each addition.
    6. Add the flax, and any seeds/nuts (remember that add-ins are not included in carb count!) you want to mix in and mix well.
    7. Let stand for 20 minutes, until mixture is very light. Stir in salt and the rest of the flours until dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl.
    8. Knead 10 to 15 minutes until dough is smooth and elastic. Put into a greased bowl and cover, let rise in the oven with light on until doubled, about 1 hour.
    9. Punch down and shape into 3 round balls. Cover and let rest for 20 minutes.

    1. Form into loaves and let rise covered in oven until doubled. Bake at 375 degrees F (190 degrees C) 25-35 minutes.
    2. Cool for as long as you can stand before cutting. This slices very thin and holds up well.
