| Breakfast Casserole
12 slices bread, lightly buttered
Sauté sausage. Drain off the fat. Trim crusts from bread. Put 6 slices of bread in an oblong casserole dish, buttered side up. Sprinkle half of sausage and half of cheese. Top with remaining 6 slices of bread and other half of cheese and sausage. Mix together eggs and milk in blender. Pour over layers. Press so that bread is completely saturated. Put in refrigerator overnight. Bake in a preheated 350 F degree oven for 45 minutes. |

| For the casserole, use only white bread. I made it once with wheat and we didn't like it at all. Just plain old fashioned white bread, since you trim the crusts anyway, doesn't matter if it's sandwich style or round top. Buy the better sausage (such as Jimmy Dean). Some of the cheaper (store brand) sausages don't do as well. And try to use medium, it's gives it more of a "kick". |
