| Anyone have a ballpark figure for the cost of a bank appraisal (Florida, if that matters)?
We haven't purchased a home for 20 years and were a little surprised when the loan guy from the bank (Wells Fargo) said it might be $ 400.00. Does that sounnd right?
Thanks
ML

It cost me 3something last year. That will vary by location though.

Yes, it could very well be $400, or more. As Bill said, prices vary by state/region.

$350 to $400 in my part of NY. What is so surprising about $400? In 20 years, everything has gone up.

We are in Florida and have been dealing with Wells Fargo since December. $400 was what we paid for the appraisal. Just be careful because they stretched ours out so long we had to get a 2nd appraisal because the 1st had expired.

$400 is the exact amount a REA mentioned to me the other day. I think we paid that amount 5 years ago.

I paid about 300 for my appraisal, so 400 sounds about right depending on regional variances as stated by others. I also echo the second appraisal issue...if our process would have taken only 3 days longer, we would have had to get a second appraisal for the house we were purchasing!!!

DH checked the price of an appraisal and was told it would be $350. We are in SE Pennsylvania.

Long Island, NY cost is $650 for an independent appraisal. I wish it were less. Banks run about $400 I think.
