Count me as one of the wallpaper naysayers. I have removed more than my share and have vowed never to do it again.

I also have done a lot of painting. Painting shelving is a royal pain, so I can only imagine removing wallpaper from the backs of shelving. Ugh.

I wouldn't buy or not buy a house because of wallpaper, though. I'd just calculate the contractor costs when I put our offer together.

I LOVE wallpaper on shelving. If it is modern and tasteful, like from anthropologie. You can buy sure strip wallpaper that is easy to remove so it won't cause misery for later owners.

However, I think it depends on the style of house. The right wallpaper in the right spot can be awesome in vintage homes, but would be difficult in most modern ones.

There are a lot of things like wallpaper that bring out strong opinions in people, both pro and con.

If it's something that you want to live with, fine, but with a property for sale, many people see a turn-off and their minds shut down and they close out everything else. It might be their ideal house, but they didn't get that far.

So you're dealing with human nature, which is why the advice is always to keep things as neutral as possible in a house for sale, to avoid having people shut down.

By the way....does anyone think think tile is as personalized a choice as wallpaper? Should I be tiling anything.... (oh no........)

Family will be there for about a year and a half, christopherh, but in the strictest term yes ~"flipping"~

Do what you want and enjoy it while you live in you're home. Get rid of it before listing.
