Another UFO ready for the cupboard

My New Years Resolution is to get all the UFOs out of my sewing room for space and move them along to good homes eventually. You can't do much with quilt tops. I have a good longarmer who is cheap and I decided to help her fund her small-town shop to keep it in business. (And, I've convinced my husband her shop is a charity.)

This is one from a class I took several years ago. I made it double/full size thinking my Mom would want it and she didn't. I made her the blue one instead. The class was from Karla Alexander and her book "Stack the Deck". Unfortunately she dragged out light colors from my stash for the center blocks that were too white for me and I never really connected with this. I do like the black and gold colors of the edges.

The Stack process is so easy I could use it again for a quick gift and I heartily recommend it for a newbie just starting out.

I agree with you Linda, the black and gold around the perimeter is nice...I'm not sure I get the white center either.

Linda, I think that's a great idea for your quilt. And I agree with you about the center. I've made a baby quilt with Karla's Stack the Deck method, and it was fun. I think you need strong fabrics to carry it off. All those pale colors just didn't cut it. Sometimes we know better than the experts.

I agree the light color choices for the center aren't the best for this method, but the quilt still looks good and someone will love it.
I've learned, the hard way, not to plan on making a full quilt for the workshop projects. I tend not to like most of the fabric choices and view the workshops as a lesson to learn the technique.
Yay for another UFO completed.

Nice quilt and I too agree with you about the lighter fabrics not pulling their weight. Oh well....someone, somehwere will love it.
