Side-stones instead of corner-stones?

Did you all see the picture of this quilt on the Connecting Threads site? I really like the splashes of color in the middle of the sashing strips instead of at the corners of the blocks. Has anyone tried this? Do we call them sidestones instead of cornerstones?

I haven't been over there in a while, I'll have to check them out.

That's interesting. Are they actually sewn that way, or is it a striped fabric? It's a nice change of pace from cornerstones.

Striped fabric? I didn't think of that. It could be but it looks constructed to me. I need to go look at it on a bigger computer screen!

Well, that sure is different.....it could be my eyes or the mood I'm in, but the side-stones don't do anything for me at this time.

The main reason I use cornerstones is because it's a no-brainer way of aligning the larger squares.
