| I was in a quilt-along and the instructor was QuiltDad, his name is John and he's amazing. It's a Wonky Log Cabin quilt and I worked off the backing fabric for the block colors and fabrics.
And here's the back...
It's called "Hooters!" because there is an owl in the center of all the blocks, except the bottom left, that's a pussycat face.
Machine quilted in a swooping pattern, which was hard because the quilt is kind of big, 70" x 84" and all those turns were making me cranky. And sore! I was worn out once I got done. AnyHOO, lol, it's done and I'm glad. Now, on to the next one- a circles and curves quilt. If anyone wants to join in, here's the link...
I dunno, it might be a little dull, what do you think? lol |
Here is a link that might be useful: It's being taught by heidielliot....

| Well, Flamingo!! Someone in another thread was saying quilters aren't racy, LOL. You certainly proved them wrong. That is a gorgeous quilt, and I absolutely love the colors. Love the backing, too. |

Great job, great quilt. Love your choice of colors, perfect for the pattern and the backing is a sure "Hoot". Love everything about it from the back to the borders and the binding. TFS Jayne |

Great quilt. I love your wonky blocks and how smart to pull from the colors on the backing. Very well done, you should be very proud. Jeane |

| WOW!! That is one beautiful quilt! The colors are bright and so "you". I love the wonky style of the front and the back is something else indeed. I can imagine how difficult it was to quilt because of the size, but you did a terrific job. I love it!! Susan |

The fabric is perfect for the quilt. What is a swooshing pattern, like waves??? You did a great job. Rosa |

| Thank you all very much! I like it a lot, it's on the loveseat right now and the kitten is playing on it. She's white so she really shows up on it. The swoopy quilting design is just a free-flowing, slightly curved echo pattern. I stitch a few lines all the way thru the quilt and then some smaller ones, sort of in a woodgrain pattern and then repeat the lines or add "knotholes" or whatever seems to suit the space. It was hard to do on this large of a quilt, though. I won't do it again on a big one, too hard to cram 95% of a big quilt thru that little throat space! Thanks again for all the compliments! Coming from quilters, (as opposed to "just" friends and family) it really means a lot! |

| It really is wonderfully alive, its wonky movement, very cool! I must ask Pls. are the wonky blocks pieced to the black sashing or appliqued on the back background, seems it could be either. Of course, if it's pieced, I'm curious how one controls its degree of wonkiness? Is there a pattern somewhere? (Sorry, but I'm fascinated)! It's exceptional! |
