Evan's Critter Quilt

Here's the quilt top I made for my nine year old grandson Evan who is enamored of animals. The backing will be Minky in a giraffe skin pattern. The top is at the quilter's. She's doing a leaf pattern on it.

My thanks to the sashing tutorial posted a couple of weeks ago. I needed that. What a treasure trove of information is available on this forum.

Funny how you notice things in a photo that you don't see first hand. Even though I thought I mixed the blocks up pretty well, I see from the photo that I acutally put the same block next to each other in two places. I am not that much of a perfectionist that I would tear it apart and correct my mistakes, but it does bug me. Knowing my Evan, he'll notice. We'll see.

I love it, the fabrics are adorable!!!

I agree about the pics lol, I can try so hard to get everything 'straight' and then look at it in my design floor and it looks OK. Take a pic and notice the glaring (to me lol) mistake!!

We are our own worse critics and it is gorgeous I'm sure he will love it.

Very nicely done, Lois. The sashing and cornerstone fabric is perfect! Your grandson will certainly love it!

I don't see the same blocks together either. Love the quilt, he can play "name the animal skin" with his friends.

Your gs will be so happy with the great job you did he wont have time to look at the placement of the blocks. I like the animal prints, esp. for a young man. There is enough variation that the togetherness isn't noticeable unless you are looking VERY carefully. Nice work. TFS Jayne

I LOVE the fabrics. Evan is a lucky guy.

You did a wonderful job. I like the mitered corners... they give a nice 'finished' look to a top. I did them once but it was with multiple borders....took me a lot of time to do it.

Great fabric and design for a boy! I don't see the same blocks together either. I like your border, and sashings.
Evan will definitely love this quilt.
Please post a picture after you get it back from your quilter - I want to see the minky & the quilting.

I see 2 blocks together that have the same fabric in them, but the placement of the fabric is not the same. Not to worry, Lois, they really aren't the same. It looks great!!!

This is a great quilt and perfect for anyone who loves animals. I think the minky backing will be just right! You did a great job, from fabric selection to pattern to sashing to mitered corners!
