Lucky baby. That turned out beautifully.

It is lovely Beverly! Did you use the tiny stitch beginning and end or tie and bury in the quilt??
I am starting to use the tiny stitch beginning and end and I have washed the quilt 3 times with no probs.
Soooooooo I think it will stay quilted LOL!

Rosa, it is machine quilted with LOTS of little stitches at the beginning and end. I live in fear one will fall apart. So far, no problems that I am aware of.

That turned out great, Beverly. Thanks for sharing a photo of the finished quilt.

Beverly I am the same LOL!!!! I would really be upset if I gave one as a gift and it started unraveling as soon as they used it!!!
I read about it in a quilting book and Annie said she uses the same method.
I think if Annie uses it we can trust it LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Your quilt looks wonderful!

Did you sew your borders on one at a time, or did you sew them together and then attach them?

Thanks everyone. Lola, I did them one at a time. Wasn't sure I was going to do 2, but didn't like it with just one, so added the second.

They requested a Christmas one for work, so I'm doing another with Christmas fabrics, just a bit bigger.

I love your D9P baby quilt. You put together the nicest color combinations. I envy you grandmas that can sew endlessly for your grand babies....none in my family. I do a few for the hospitals but not my own.

This one isn't for one of my grands. It is for a friend of DD#1. He practically lived at our house when they were in school and is like my own. He and his wife are just the sweetest young people and I couldn't be happier.

Beverly--do you use a hoop, pins or basting spray to keep the layers together while you machine-quilt?

I'm going to try machine quilting the quilt I'm working on, but it's larger than anything I've tried in the past. It's also a gift so I'd rather NOT muck it up.

Thanks, Dianne

RE: D9P baby quilt pics.

Dianne, I use pins, lots of pins. I had lots of help pinning at the retreat, so I got 5 quilts pinned and ready to go. I stretch and tape the backing down to the top of tables (at home I have to get on the floor), then smooth the batting and top. I sort of smooth and stretch the top as I pin from the center out. I don't know if it is the "correct" way to do it, but I stitch in the ditch around the borders and baste around the outside edge (outside border is slightly larger than I plan to finish the quilt) before I do the center. Then I quilt the center and finish the borders and binding. I have been known to go back and add some quilting after the binding is done because I thought it needed "something". If the quilt police knew how haphazard I work they might come looking for me.

Beverly I'm turning you in for not being 'correct' LOL!!! When I started in the 80's there were so many rules I tried to follow, now I don't give a hoot.
Jeane it is fun and now my nieces and nephews are having babies so they keep me busy. DH and I both have large fams (I'm the oldest of 6 girls, he has 5 sisters and a brother) and I made 2 quilts for hospice grandparents, a total of 5 lately that have all been boys.
Nephew is expecting a baby in January and THANK GOODNESS it is a girl! I told him that baby would look silly in the quilt I was making if it was a boy LOL!!!!!!
