Upsherinish quilt

Posted by dian57 (My Page) on

I've been invited to a coworker's son's upsherinish ceremony. He's turning 3 and will have his hair cut for the first time.

Instead of a check, I am thinking about making him a crib sized quilt. I've googled the term and don't come up with much that is adaptable to a quilt.

The invitation describes a tree of life, perhaps a large appliqued tree and leaves?

Any ideas out there?

This book linked below has a beautiful Tree of Life Project.
I am making another project out of this book, and if you follow her directions, pressing how she says, the blocks and points all come together. This is made from all squares & rectangles.
I also googled the term-maybe adding some appliqued fire, and the Hebrew alphabet or his Hebrew name & date to the bottom if you really wanted to add something symbolic. I think the Tree of Life is a perfect idea.

This is a pattern that is on my 'someday' list.

You ladies gave me some great ideas. I started the quilt and will surprise you with a picture when I get it done. So far I'm very happy with the way it's shaping up.
