Looking For Quotes For A Quilt

Morning All -

I'm in the process of making a quote quilt for my niece and her fiance and need some help with quotes to include. I've googled quotes and could spend the rest of my life reading all the hits - which I don't want to do, so I'm doing the next best thing - collecting them from family and friends.

They are kind of young - she's 22 and he's 28, they love animals - 4 cats and 1 dog - and getting together with friends to play games of all sorts. She's in going to school for a career in the medical field and he's a store manager for an upscale department store.

So far I've printed off about a dozen and am using the light box DH made me to trace them on to 8-1/2" x 11" pieces of muslin. It's going to be a great take-along project and something I can do now that it's getting dark so stinking early and still feel like I'm accomplishing something.

Thinking that I'm going to use neckties to frame each quote and then QAYG after that - we'll see.

She is just starting to quilt and mentioned that she wants to make a quilt for the guest bedroom and he's encouraging her - yeah!

So what is your favorite quote?

This one is from my mom: You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar.

I don't remember where I heard it, but:

"A smiling heart brings much warmth"

Two of my favourites are
"Speak kind words, hear kind echoes"
"You cannot change the wind, but you can adjust your sails"
Then, of course, there's the old favourite "A stitch in time saves nine"
Sounds like a lovely quilt.

This is one I just put on a wedding quilt:
Choose your love, Love your choice

Life is like an onion, you peel off one layer at a time and sometimes you weep.

I love some of these. Think I may start a collection ...(for later use).

If you go back in "previous messages" at the the bottom, go to No.4 and you will find your "quotes". There are many, many good ones there.

I've been keeping a quote journal for almost 8 years...here are a few of the short ones I have:

"To be loved, be lovable"
"Exuberance is beautiful"
"Joy is not in things, it is in us"
"Happily may I walk...may it be beautiful all around me"
"The ornament of a house is the friends who frequent it"

I also like "housework makes you ugly!"

I've always liked this one-

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way when you criticize them, you are a mile away and you have their shoes.

My dear Mother used to tell me "you never know...Pigs might fly..."
