Football fabric quilt - Pattern?

I would like to make my youngest brother a quilt for Christmas. He is going through a divorce right now, so there is really not a 'master bedroom' color or theme to consider. He is a HUGE Oakland Raiders fan, and I found some black and white Raiders fabric that could look good in a quilt with maybe some red and/or silver accent fabrics. The print is big however, so I think I'd need to fussy-cut the team logos and I'm not sure of a pattern that I could use with that that wouldn't be hugely time consuming or complicated. I've never done anything like a theme quilt like this before - any ideas for patterns??

FYI - I believe the best size for this particular logo would probably be a 4 inch square or so if that helps. Thanks!

how about warm wishes? or a nine patch with the football fabric in alternating blocks?

Laura, I'm working with dolphin fabric right now and using the Snowball block with an alternating Friendship Star block. I'm making the star WOW, the corners of the Snowball and Star block the same fabric of blue bubbles and of course, the dark blue with dolphins and whales for the main part of the Snowball and HST of the star.

The site below gives various blocks that will work with a Snowball block if you want to consider it.....

How about making a "football" block (out of Raiders fabric, or maybe brown like a football on a black background, or your red or silver fabric). Row 1, 2 half square triangles to make a point, Row 2, 2 squares, Row 3, 2 squares, Row 4 2 half square triangles to make a point. Might make an interesting sashing between your Raiders blocks or even a border fabric with little footballs. --Amy

One of the ladies at my church made 2 football quilts. It was for a particular team. It was orange & blue. I'll e-mail her & find out what pattern she used.

Why not use fussy cut logos as the center of log cabin blocks? Make the logs as scrappy as you like. Or carefully choose colors that give a shadow effect.
