From the Jacksonville Show: Panorama Quilt

At the Jacksonville FL quilt show I saw a really fun display of small quilts made by a guild. They started with a panorama photo split up into squares, with one square distributed to each member. The individual quilts were about 18"x18" or maybe a little larger. Even with small variations in style, fabric and skill, the quilts fit together beautifully and the whole image was wonderful.

Kate, I thought that was a really neat display, too. They must have all had the same fabrics, though, at least for the water and sky.

There was another panel quilt depicting the history of St. Augustine...did you see that one?

Sweet! We should try that for camp. I'll take some panorama pics this year.

Beverly! I like that! I was thinking it would be a fun Retreat Challenge some year, but hadn't thought about using a pano of the camp. Hopefully the leaves will be starting to change and we'll see some pretty color.

Donna: I didn't get a picture of the St. Aug one, did you? I was thinking the same thing about the fabric, but if everyone in a group tried to match the colors in their section of photo, I think it would work.

No, I don't think I got a picture of the St. Augustine. It was pretty cool!

The neat thing about the panel quilt in your picture is they started with a very old (100 years or so) black and white photo.

I can't wait to see the panel quilt of your retreat camp! :)
