Comfort quilt finished!

I have to start with a disclaimer. This was a kit I got at a show earlier this year. When I washed the fabrics a couple of months ago I wondered what had appealed to me at the time. :) It's very busy and there isn't enough contrast. If I had started with the floral print I would have chosen a much smaller, less busy second print and a much darker purple solid.

But...I needed a quick quilt and it was on hand, and I think my friend will like the colors. She lost her husband a couple of weeks ago.

The pattern calls for 3 1-1/2 yard cuts but the kit had 2 yard cuts, so there was enough fabric left to piece the back. I made one block then I decided to change the color placement, so the "reject" block is in the backing. :)

I just need to write something on the label and I will give it to her tomorrow.

I agree, more contrast would have been nice. But that said, I love the floral print and the quilt is lovely.

Are there two different blocks or is just my eyes?
I do like the colours but agree with you both about contrast.

I like alot of contrast and bright colors. That said, for a comfort quilt, especially in this design, the less contrast & more subtle colors are soothing, and comforting. It is perfect for your friend; the fabric & colors in this kit were meant to be. Good job, Donna. You should feel very good about your gift.

In agreement regarding contrast, but it really is cheery. Hope it helps her through this awful time.

Donna, I think it's a very soothing quilt - perfect for your friend. Any shortcomings you may feel it has will be outweighed by your loving sentiments. I'm sure your friend will be comforted.

With the fast-paced life everyone lives today, I'm sure your friend will feel blessed to have a friend like you that would take the time to make her something special. The colors and print are lovely and I"m sure she will love and appreciate it and you.

well, I pretty much love the whole thing...especially the back! It looks very artistic (artsy, as some would say!) and it feels like a great combination of just colorful enough to be cheery and subtle enough to be a good wrap of love from a friend. Nice!! I like!

Thank you all for your kind words! Theresa, it is indeed 2 different blocks. :)

I gave it to my friend this morning and she cried (happy tears!). She was thrilled to know I'd thought about her.
