| I have had my sewing machine since 2004, though have mostly only used it during the past 4 years. I feel like sometime soon I probably need to oil it. What type of oil/lubricant do you buy for your sewing machine, where do you buy it (can it be gotten at Lowes or Ace Hardware Store?), how often do you oil it, and what advice do you have when doing it (I have heard it can be messy)?
Best to you and many thanks,

| Sandra, right off the bat - No to oil from the hardware store. Look in your sewing machine manual for oiling instructions. Not all machines require oil - others require alot. Your manual will also tell you exactly where to oil, how often, and what kind. You must follow the directions exactly! If you can't find the manual, look online, but do not oil it until you find out. This is important!
