3rd Special LOTTO - Paper Piecing 2014

1st quarter was a blast; 2nd quarter didn't have too many participants but resulted in some great blocks; 3rd quarter could "be the charm", as they say. Lot's of room for creativity on this one so give it a try! There's even at least one non-paper-piecing block that would work!

Paper Piecing Lotto
3rd Quarter 2014

Along with the regular monthly Lotto, we are going to have one block each quarter for those who want to try something special. As with the regular Lotto, you can make 1, 2 or 3 blocks. Mail them to littlehelen by the end of the quarter along with $1 to cover mailing the blocks to the winner.

If you have questions, post them below or refer to the 2014 Lotto-at-a-Glance post for general lotto instructions.

3rd Quarter - due 10/15 (a little extension on 90 days) - paper pieced leaf in Fall colors or greens, any size 6" or larger.

An inspiration picture to get your brain working on this project:

Here's one leaf pattern: Fall Leaf
Here's another Palm Leaf
And one more that doesn't even require paper piecing: Maple Leaf

If you find other free patterns, please post them below. A quick Google search turns up several patterns but some have a fee.

Any size block from 6" to 12" is OK. ( Wha..??? Yes! ) The winner can fit them together with sashing, or blocks of unpieced fabric, or just clever positioning. That will be part of the fun.
Leaf colors can be reds, oranges, yellows, golds, purples or greens. Backgrounds can be almost anything you want, but lighter shades of blue, green, gray, tan or pale yellow will help the leaf shapes show up better.

I've extended the due date on this lotto to Oct 15th so anyone going to Retreat could make a block while they are there. Maybe we'll have a paper piecing leaf class!
