BOM 2010 - July

Welcome to the 2010 Block of the Month!

This is a no-pressure, no-structure, no-challenge, no-deadline group; we are just here to share, encourage and inspire. Any type, style and method of block construction is welcome. No rules; just fun quilting.

For those of you who haven't done a BOM, the idea is to commit to making one block each month and end the year with 12 completed blocks. It's a fun way to tackle long term projects or even mystery quilts. It can be organized - several websites offer patterns with a new block posted each month - or taken from a book - or even something you make up on your own.

You didn't have to start in January - feel free to jump in anytime! (And don't worry if you miss a month or two because this isn't a race!)

Participants: Post a picture of your July 2010 block below. (There will be another thread started next month and so on throughout the year.)

LOL - we are all in the same boat! I haven't finished June yet either, but I'm hoping to pick it up soon.

I have cheated a bit. I am cought up until Nov. Not something I like to do in the summer. Thanks for the positive imput. Those last 2 are going to be difficult. Jayne

I love your swans!

Well, I was working on my June basket getting it ready for tomorrows Quilt Club so that I can get my July block.

Unfortunately with 3 seams to go, my iron exploded. I'm talking sparks and a mushroom cloud. Apparently, there was a cut in the cord that I hadn't noticed and the wires crossed. Had I known it was there, I would have chucked it in the trash. It was 15 years old. It did burn my right forearm and singed the hair (that smells lovely). But, I was lucky it didn't catch my long hair or shirt on fire. Thankfully, my daughter wasn't standing beside me, because it would have been eye level to her. God was watching over her!

I'll post my block when I get a new iron and finish it.

Wow, that was exciting. I am glad that it wasn't any worse but that was bad enough for sure. Thank heavens you didn't start a fire or hurt your daughter. Irons are the bane of my exsistance. Always some new why to pose a problem. Looking forward to seeing the next basket.

I hate to admit that I didn't get my July block done. I've turned into a quilting slug this summer and can't seem to get back into it once I finished the big quilt. Early Aug won't be much better but I'm hoping to get started again before the end of August.
