| Hubby and I were at our neighbors for dinner tonight. She is a fellow quilter - mostly hand applique. After the meal she brought out a back of scraps that a friend had given her - a whole grocery sack full of Marimekko scraps. As I was oooing and ahhhing, she took half of them and put them into a sack for me. They are bold, often huge prints in mostly primary colors, in heavy cotton fabric. I immediately thought how much fun it would be to make a scrap quilt from the MaryQuilts website that Dawn showed us. I think I might make the Amish Stripes and Strings or the Half Log Cabin pattern. The fabric is so heavy that I'll use paper foundation, not muslin though.
If anyone else has a pattern that they think would work with my treasure, I'd love to hear about it. Lois |

| What about a quilt made with large blocks of the fabrics to show off the large prints? I have one on my to-do list that is 10-inch blocks of indigo prints sashed with wide bands of white - it is stunning. Or something like this: |

| Thanks, Teresa. What a lot of good ideas. I'll be sure to consider all of them. And yes, Calliope, that is a friend. |

| Wow, enjoy your wonderful gift! I really like the Atlantis quilt linked above, or Stepping Stones or Kaleidoscopic Kites - both from the Fresh Lemons site. Kate |

| Kate, thanks for the great link. I think several of the patterns might work. I have to sit down and analyze exactly what I have. Some of the patterns are so huge that I only have a chunk of two or three colors with no distinquishable pattern. I really like Atlantis and Stepping Stones too. I guess it will depend on how big the blocks can be. |

| Lois~great, generous friend and gift. I would love to see the fabrics - please post a picture if you get a chance. I think I would have been giddy at dinner from the fabrics! |
