Lovebird Lane applique quilt

This BOM came out a few years ago and I didn't feel my applique skills were good enough to try it. It will still be a learning process BUT I now know what I don't like!

Machine applique is not my friend lol!! I remember Sharon's post about the basting from the back method and at first I didn't like it, but I have practiced a few times and now I do.

I ordered the center block and the assembly (includes the bird & ribbon pattern) for $6 each and a total of $2 shipping. I ordered last night and it was shipped this AM!

This will probably take me years to complete lol!!!

Rosa, that's really cute! And the price seems very reasonable. So many BOMs are really expensive! Have fun with it!

All of their products are just darling. And the prices are great. I might try one myself.

Cute! Are you going to machine applique or do it by hand?

Rosa, What are you doing, you enabler, you! If I were home, at least one of those patterns would already be ordered! How cute those are!!! By sewing a block at a time, you could quit and make a wall hanging if you get tired of it. To each their own, but I do like the perks of back-basting most applique. Glad it's working for you.

I'm not enough of an applique person to understand some of this. What's back-basting and what are the advantages?

Kate, Any pieces of fabric that isn't touching another, or doesn't need to be over another, can be basted in place and toted around without pins sticking you and without the pattern piece getting moved or lost. I don't do everything this gal does, but it will give you an idea of what back basting is.
