| I like it! I'm not sure I would ever do it, but I do think it's pretty and really adds a lot of interest to the border. By the time I get to the border I'm usually ready to be done with a quilt - I don't mind doing the borders but not sure I want to take this much time with them. Kate |

| You'd almost have to plan on making your outside border wider, just to accommodate this technique. 4" strip folded in 1/2 = 2" wide this sewn to the back side w/ 1/4" seam allowance would use 1/4" = 1 3/4" then folding the binding over the raw edges would take another 1/4" = 1 1/2" left 1 1/2" (or slightly less) would flip to the front Depending on how deep you want your scallops to be, I'd think you could shrink down to 1" (taking 1" total off the original 4" binding) and still have enough to roll into the scallop. Something to think about trying! I do like how she's quilted the wide binding, making it more of a decorative feature rather than just slapped on. |
