I would just stitch in the ditch. You don't want to distract from the intricate embroidery.

I was going to suggest stitch in the ditch as well. I recall these squares being smaller, so they may not need more than that, but if you feel they do, you could just do a tack stitch hidden in the embroidery in the middle of the square.

The squares are 7". Do you think stitch in the ditch will be enough?

I was thinking of some small tacking stitches in the blocks too, along with the SID.

Whether 7" SID is enough depends on the batting... some manufacturers suggest a maximum of 3" or 4" between rows, but if the embroidery goes through the batting, I'd think you wouldn't have to worry about it. 7" SID is plenty to fasten the quilt top to the backing.

OTOH, if the embroidery does not go all the way through the batting and/or you just want to be positive the batting is secure, then tacking every couple inches or maybe just along the stems or hearts should be enough.
