8in square

I want the fabric squares to be no smaller than 8" finished that includes it sewn.(fabric squares sewn tog.) So need to ask what size do I cut out the Fabric squares?? What size Batting squares?? 1/2" seam allowance. Thank you B.

1/2" seam allowance=9" sq.
1/4" seam allowance=8 1/2" sq.
Why are you using batting with each sq.? Not sure I understand this. Jayne

Are you making a 'quilt as you go' block? These are also called 'fun and done'. Or is it for a standard quilt top? Unless it's for the quilt as you go type quilt, you wouldn't cut the batting to fit individual blocks.
