A Break from the Garden...

In my last post I was moaning about all the weeding, etc. I had been doing but today it's raining so back to the sewing room. Still working on the larger landscape quilt I had started last week. I hefted and spread 27 bags of mulch yesterday and still have lots more to do even though the weekend before this past one I spread 26 or 28, I lost count. It's probably going to be at least 25 more before it's all done in the beds right around the perimeter of the house. I'm holding my breath that my back holds out until it's all done. But it still won't be done because I have other beds that need weeding, too but at least all around the house is de-weeded and treated with a pre-emergent.

Lucky you to be able to get out into your garden. Some of ours are still snow covered and one patch is iced over. Please let spring come soon!

Garden? What's a garden? We are under a winter storm watch with the possibility of 4-8" of snow over the next couple of days. We still have so much on the ground already. This has been a terrible winter for Minneapolis, and it looks like it's not over yet.

Take it easy on your back, Rita. Spring is just starting. I do envy your warm weather though.

My cousin in Michigan thinks all their snow might be gone by June but hopes to be able to get out within the next couple of weeks.

If gardening is still fun, and not drudgery or physically debilitating, go for it! Otherwise, it's nice to have a warm cozy home with a sewing machine and fabric to have fun with. :-)

I don't see how you people up there deal with it. But, here in Central Florida I do notice that the snowbirds don't hang around too long when it starts to get hot here, that's why we hurry up and get the hard stuff done asap, gardening is brutal here in the summer. I guess you have to live in Hawaii to have perfect weather all year, huh? If I lived there I probably wouldn't get much quilting done, though.
