Does anyone have a Janome Jem sewing machine?

I am needing a lightweight machine to take to classes. I have a Pfaff to use at home, but it is pretty heavy to be hauling to classes. I was thinking about looking at a Janome Jem or a Babylock, or a Bernette. It doesn't need to have a lot of stitches, but work well and be lightweight. Tell me your favorites please, and what price range they are in. I don't want to spend a lot on this.

I have one but it's not a lightweight. It's held up well for me.
Look for a machine where you can drop the feed dogs so you can take that Machine Quilting Class!!!

I have a Janome 3125 that I got at the Hancocks Fabrics here. Got it for classes, camping, whatever & love it! It's only weighs around 11 lbs, uses the same bobbins as my home Janome & is a good machine, better than I even expected, so have been very happy with it. Got it on sale at the time for $89, regular price is $129, but they run them on sale alot, so watch their ads or check their website. It comes with a good warranty too, which is another plus, & at the same, I picked up a nice carrying tote for it too, for $15.

Good luck!

Nancy/NC..

I also have the Janome 3125 from Hancocks. Got it on sale to take to guild. Have enjoyed sewing with it. Bought my DIL the Janome 2139 there too. It has a few more stitches but not much more money. She has enjoyed learning on it, too.

I just bought the Janome Jem Platinum 760. It's a very nice machine. It has the capability of sewing without the presser foot, needle up and down, speed controls, and a lot more features. It's very quiet and easy to learn to use. I bought mine to take to clases. I wanted something that was easy to use and dependable.
