RE: February Quilting Goals

Well, it would be nice to set some quilting goals, but we are still in the middle of our bathroom remodel. It's been a month since we gutted it; so far we've gotten the walls patched and painted and the new light fixture installed. Still have a long way to go, and DH just found out he's going to have to work 1/2 days every other Saturday. He already works all day on the other Saturdays, so he is one UNhappy camper!

Anyway, no quilty goals for me this month. That way anything I manage to do will be a big accomplishment! :)

Donna

PS - Kate, I think you were sitting a couple of chairs down from me at the guild meeting Monday! I was going to say hi and got sidetracked.

RE: February Quilting Goals

Donna, you have goals enough for all of us. Good luck.

Mine for Feb -

- my Feb. BOM
- figure out what to do for seasonal wallhanging now that I scrapped the previous design
- continue on two baby quilts I'm working on
- get my frame up and quilting

Might go visit Mom. She turned 90 on the first but is out and having so much fun these days with her boyfriend that she doesn't stay home much for a visitor. Go girl!!

RE: February Quilting Goals

I'm still on my roll to clean up every QIP, and pile of blocks in the sewing room before I begin new projects. I finished off a crazy quilt a week ago I had started to use up scraps off the DP I am making. I now am almost finished with the top to a R/W/B twin sized I am making to use up the blocks from the Red Sampler quilt lotto I won in December, 2008. Figured every quilter should have done at least one R/W/B and the addition of bright blue calico sashing helped me kill two birds with one stone.

When I get it machine quilted, I'll go back to working on the DP in progress and also finally sandwich and machine quilt my Eye of God Quilt I started when I was just learning quilting three years ago. It's so crudely made, it's almost a primitive. I think that's why I stopped on it, but it's actually too pretty to just throw away. I've reached the stage of maturing in my skills I just wasn't inspired to go back to work on it. But, it'll make a fine utility quilt even if just to throw in the back of the car.

I have on the agenda a totally wool quilt from piecework to backing and batting. No hurry on this one. Also shall start a log cabin now to use up scraps from the DP. I like having a scrappy going with a main project. It's sort of like a bonus when you get done.

Linda I'm so proud of your mom!!!
Donna we like to watch the renovation program that comes on in the evening. It stresses me out to have to put up with the mess, but then I forget that when the project is complete and turns out so nice.
NUMBER ONE - get the bags of jeans cut into pieces to add to the mock Cathedral Window denim.
2. Complete row 1 & 2 of Fat Cat's Christmas quilt.
3. Make 2 labels for previously completed quilts.
I saw a gorgeous floral scrappy and white log cabin so I'm going to look through my fabric and see what floral I have.

RE: February Quilting Goals

#1 Finish the Stars and Four Patch quilt for our DIL and send it to the quilter.
#2 buy fabrics for the Trip Around the World quilt that the quilting group here in our park will be working on.
#3 Try to organize the sewing room......again. Why can't I keep it organized??
I really don't think Feb. is going to be long enough

GOOOOOOOOO Toolgranny's MOM!!!!!

RE: February Quilting Goals

Oh yeah, I forgot "Get the sewing room organized!"

It looks like a tornado hit in there, with fabric from 4 different projects stacked on every surface! Then I shoved it all to the side to work on a beading project so I have that stuff to get put away too. I have to get it all cleaned up before i do anything else. I think that's my goal for tomorrow - it's a good Saturday task and lots more fun than general housekeeping!

RE: February Quilting Goals

My plans are so ruined from this weather-very wet heavy snow storm hitting the DC/Balt again! News : prepare to be paralyzed! What kind of weather report is that??? 16"-30" and ice and sleet -I have listing my goals for the month as one of the goals! LQS was having their once a year sale this weekend - well that ain't happening....... I'll be shoveling snow all weekend........since DH heart issues a few months ago - its only me shoveling............

So my goals so far:
List my goals & Clean up my sewing area/office - between the work project and the PPing - I have a huge mess - little bits of paper & fabric everywhere (actually the snippets of fabric all over the floor make me smile - don't tell DH)
Get in a better mood- I need a major attitude adjustment - sewing 15 mins would definitely make me feel better. If we still have power tomorrow - I will fit that in!

RE: February Quilting Goals

Here's my update. I had hoped to get lots of sewing done during this vacation week but it did't turn out that way. Too many other things to do and out of town visitors who don't want to head back to snowy Atlanta. I don't blame them!!!

But early in the week I got the 3 lotto blocks done, the March birthday block done, the seasonal challenge wallhanging done (!), and the birthday quilt pieced and pinned. Now I just need to get it quilted and the binding on.

It's just the middle of the month so I think I may get every thing done unless the wet yard dries up enough for me to get the garden clean-up completed.

RE: February Quilting Goals

Oh, my it's the middle of the month!

I have 2 simple goals: finish the Quilt for kids and finish the little tote I'm making from my MQ class on Jan 30th. It didn't help that I did not like the tote pattern at class, although I did enjoy the MQ on each block that made up the little tote. So now I'm redesigning in the middle of the project.

Best of luck to all who are working so hard this month!

RE: February Quilting Goals

I never did post my goals this month, but my biggest goal was to finish one of my Wallhanging Challenge projects, which I did....c'est finis!!!

RE: February Quilting Goals

This quilt top ( I photographed it before it was bound and quilted. It is since finished) was made from the blocks I won in the December 2008 Block Lotto. I made more blocks to get the size I wanted, and it was on my January/February goals to finally get off the design wall and done.

The blocks were to have been a Red and White sampler, participants choice of patterns. So, I just winged in on how to pull them all together. It was fun to work with other people's blocks for a change! It was a rather small jackpot that month, but it was eight blocks I DIDN'T have to make and a chance to incorporate some other inspirations than blocks I chose. I made a center square with one of them by making three more Tuxedo Junction blocks, since it didn't stand alone very well. I promised you all I'd get a pic of the finished product. So here it is fourteen months later. LOL.

Laughing out loud

I just noticed how one of the eight point stars seems to have lost a couple of points and the center design is a little off. That was still in two pieces so that it would be easier to machine quilt and they are overlapped and several inches of the top half are hidden. I do make better points than that star. rofl.

RE: February Quilting Goals

OK, I finished the twin quilt and it is on the bed. Took a picture before DD took it home. I had measured and thought I had enough of the tractor fabric for the binding, but ran about 18 inches short, so I filled in with the black. Oh well, these things happen. I don't think a 3 year old will complain much.

Max and David with Max's quilt

Still haven't found the rag snips, so that baby quilt is together, but isn't done yet, but I have finished a top for a friend's 50th birthday, does that make up for it?

2 baby quilts, (1 done, 1 waiting on snips)
twin quilt (done)

RE: February Quilting Goals

I completed the last Round Robin border this morning so I can check that off the list, too. (Marie, I hope you love it!)

And I've pieced the tops for 2 Linus Project quilts - both are about 40"x60".

AND I'm working today on the FM quilting for the birthday quilt so maybe I can hand sew the binding on it tonight while I'm watching the Olympics. Her birthday lunch is on Wednesday so I'm running out of time!

Woo hoo! I'm having a good quilting month!
