Someone on here not too longago stated she put tags in corner of her quilts so little one could touch & feel. I saw somewhere that someone has just sewed a square with tags all aroung. My question is did you use silk, flannel or ?/ I would like info what material I should use to make these tags.

I've seen quilts like this in magazines that have used grossgrain ribbons, sating ribbons, etc. for those tags. Really, anything with different textures would work.

If you want a scrappy look, I would go with lots of different textures. If you want a simple look go with a satin ribbon. All kids like something soft and slick to rub. beverly

My DIL's all got the ribbon blankets as gifts when my grandkids were born. The kids never took to the things. Instead they opted for their fleece blankets. I did single layer fleece and fringed them. Not one of the four, including the foster child, will go to sleep at night without their particular fleeced blanket. The one grand child can even tell in the dark if he has his blanket or someone else's just by the feel of it! |

My advice is to make a quilt instead!

Wow Teresa, I can't believe that discussion is still going on. I have made several of those as gifts and they have always been well received. I just bought different widths of ribbon and sewed them in between 2 layers of fleece. Rebecca

Good for you, Rebecca! Just don't try to sell them or advertise on the web. It seems the "owner" of the patent on this type of thing trolls the web just looking for home sewers that are in violation of the patent. Then she starts sending nasty emails threatening litigation. So beware!

Yeah, she does spend a lot of her time protecting her patent. I am surprised she hasn't gone after clothing manufacturers for putting tags in their clothes!

I had to giggle when I read this as my 28 year old daughter still "Tags" things. Used to worry that she was OCD as she had a pair of bikini undies with a nice silk tag and she would bring that along to "tag". it all started with her blankies with silkie bindings and then a stuffed animal with a nice silky tag. I am going to make her a raggy quilt and maybe will add some ribbon tags for her.

I had to look up what a 'taggie' was lol!!! My niece makes small ones for baby gifts. They are really colorful and cute, I didn't realize there was a patent on them. Rosa |
