What are you quilting this weekend? 2/6/10

We had a big snow storm yesterday but this morning the sun is shining on the snow drifts in my driveway. I plan to stay inside and sew on the jelly roll quilt I have been working on since Christmas. I hope to get the top finished today. I have all the blocks and sashing made, I just have to assemble the center of the top and then make the pieced border.
What are you working on this weekend?

| Hey, Mz Linda in OH. @:) Glad you can stay inside today and not have to deal with all that snow. Maybe the sun will melt it and by tomorrow it'll be gone! Fat chance, eh? What I have discovered while doing the Wall Hanging Challenge is, I really don't care for fusing the entire project! This is really turning into a challenge for me. Most of the pieces are cut out, but have to do the tails yet and can't start 'fusing' until those are done. They're already really cute, but, I sure don't like the process! So, that's what I'll be doing....along with hoping to get a backing on a UFO and another block made in a BOM. SharonG/FL |

| I'll be pinning up and machine quilting a lap quilt for a client. I'm excited that I'm getting some quilting jobs down here. |

| Well this part of Ohio is still getting snow. Nobody is going anywhere, even the snow removal crews haven't bothered until it quits snowing in the rural areas. I'm spending the day machine quilting a red/white/blue quilt and not feeling the least bit guilty about not doing anything else. |

I love this snow! We have enough toilet paper and food so we're in good shape here, even if we can't get out of the driveway. My plans for the next few days are to work on sample pieces for classes and looking on-line for fabric needed for a retreat I'm attending in March. Oh yeah--laundry--I have to squeeze some of that in--Rats! |

I have never really seen it snow, just driven through it going to the mountains. The news said it is one of the worst storms in modern times. Stay safe everyone!!!! Yesterday it rained all day and we have a huge mud puddle for a back and side yard. We had an unusually hot summer, only about a week of autumn, and a winter much colder and wetter than normal. I cut scraps into 4&1/2 squares for a scrappy pinwheel and I made 3 more 6 inch friendship blocks for my BOM. It is overcast and cold today so I am going to hang out in my sewing room. Rosa |

Not sure I'm going to be able to sew...maybe a little bit tomorrow. Today I'm taking down my...um... my Christmas tree and am putting away all the fabrics that don't need to be "out" at the moment. I suppose I'll have to wash dishes too. Salijo |

| Last night I started going through all my fabrics - sorting, folding, admiring, and thinking about projects. I finished before noon today and couldn't stand to see a clean sewing table so I started cutting and stitching! I have one Feb lotto block done and another one cut out. Then I got distracted by a mini quilt pp kit I bought years ago before I was paper piecing. So now I'm working on that even though it isn't on my Feb list. It may become the center of a wallhanging but right now I'm not sure what I'll do with it. My plan is to start cutting out the birthday quilt but I'm just not inspired yet. Maybe I need some chocolate! Kate |

| No snow here for a change -- it's been such a mild winter for us -- knock on wood!! I have been working on a ragg quilt for my daughter for Christmas and I have a scrappy quilt all done and ready to go to the LA quilter and I've put aside my quilting for a little bit to make my niece some earrings for her birthday next week. That's about it, but I hope to go ice skating this weekend as I know the ice has to be great. All of you who are being bombarded with this storm, please be safe on the roads. |

| I'm digging out snow. Oh, and digging some more! We are on the south edge of the storm and have only gotten about 16" of it. It's falling as powder now, but the under 6"+ is wet and heavy. We're keeping up with the front walk & the deck for the dog. Driveway will be tackled tomorrow. I've put the binding on the quilt my daughter has been working on. YEAH! That's finallly done. I've also been plugging away on my bella bella pp quilt. Until naptime ended, of course. I have 6 more pieces on each of 20 (I think) spokes. Then more creative decision making to do for the steps after that. Have a great weekend! |

| Well we were expecting the snow last night so I spent the say at the LQS picking out gorgeous bright topical colored batiks. I'm making a Tennessee Waltz quilt to use as a signature quilt for the matriarch of my family who is turning 80 next month!! She loves tropical colors with bright green as her favorite, I can't wait to see this when its done!!!! |

I've been shoveling...and shoveling.....we have over 3 feet!! When the Weather channel talks about the Chesapeake getting the worst of this storm -- that's me! More coming on Tuesday. We do not ever have this much snow. It is very heavy. The water is picking up all the moisture and it has just stopped snowing about an hour ago. Jennifer where are you in VA? I looked up bella bella pp quilt- which one are you doing? They look spectacular! I have decided that I love to pp - how hard is it? I hope to sew alittle tomorrow.....I'm in a really bad mood and I know it would make me feel better. |

| Same old same old! I thought I was done with the applecore top, but I measured the width at only 79 inches (wha?) as I was getting ready to put it on the frame. Heaven knows how I was figuring it was so big before (maybe none of you remember...) and I'd no experience to even realize it as I was sewing. Kind of embarassing! I made a trip to the LQS for a few fat quarters to fill out another row on the width so it will end up 83 x 96 -- 418 different fabrics now. I guess quilting will shrink it up some, too. Here I was worried it was silly big! In the end, it will be on the small side of a double quilt. |

I'm working on the border for DDIL's quilt. She picked the quilt from the "Still Stripping" book. I agreed, not realizing it had a seminole border. Dumb me, figured it couldn't be that hard..all strips.....easy. Just read and follow the directions, I told myself. I have pieced the borders, and now for the mitered corners....O,BOY! I can't imagine how this "thing" is ever going to be the exact right length.....all bias...stretchy as heck. Then making the corner pieces to fit right in....UGH!! Well, nothing will do anything if I don't get busy. Wish me luck. At least it isn't snowing here in Florida, cool, but OK. Marge |

NO Snow here right now but I'm working on a table topper I'm calling "My Snowy Valentine". It's split rail with white on white and just one strip of red hearts on white in each block. Sorta like the hearts are hiding out in the snow. It will be the reverse side for one I call Winter In Fairbanks. Another Split rail with mostly blues, a bit of green and some red to remind me of the northern lights. Hope it works as well in reality as it does in my mind. Working in bits and pieces but moving along. BB |

| Magothygirl~I'm in Fredericksburg. We totalled at about 16-17". We were on the south side of the storm and had sleet for 4 hours last night...if that had only been snow. I'm making the Venice Rose bella bella quilt. I've now gotten all my wedges done, but the fabric I was going to use for the center medalion just seems to get lost. So I'm thinking on it tonight to see what I'm going to do. |

| Jennifer - my inlaws lived in Fredericksburg!- for many years-they lived in Lake of the Woods. Boy has your area built up! It is hardly recognizable. I looked at that site last week when you mentioned the bb quilt. They are so beautiful. I'd love to see a picture of your progress. I just saw on the news the listing of snowfall by area - we are in the 33"-38" range. My decks haven't been touched yet. You got a perfect amt for your kids. They are probably giddy with delight :) |

| The pp is done and its become the center of a cute piece that I'll use for my winter doorhanging and my first Seasonal Challenge piece. This morning I fortified myself with hot chocolate and tackled the birthday quilt. Its all cut out (hoo ray!) and each piece is numbered so I won't forget how I want to put it together (I hope!). | Well, I'm going to fortify myself with Irish Coffee and watch super bowl today. I have two applique project set of blocks for baby quilts scattered around my "office" and a pile of fabric for piecing staring back at me. I don't know what to pick up next. I see another pile of patterns laying over there I'm ignoring. That must be my BOM. I'm also seeing my class in EQ6 applique module from Quilt Univ sitting here. Do you suppose they give you a bad grade if you don't turn in your homework on time. Hmmm. And, boy I can't keep up with Salijo. Better take down the rest of the Xmas stuff or she'll talk about me. |

Everyone sounds busy this weekend. I did get the jelly roll quilt top put together and just have 2 borders to add this afternoon. I was trying to get it finished last night and just ran out of energy. Mz Sharon, DH went out and shoveled the snow and the sun did the rest. We still have a pile at the end of the driveway but we just drove through it today. We are located in the northwest part of the state and didn't get as much snow as parts south and east of us. Now I am off the finish the jelly roll quilt. Happy quilting, Linda |

Everyone does sound busy! Salijo, you crack me up ... "I guess I'll have to wash the dishes" - I feel that way EVERYDAY! Jennifer - That bella bella pattern is beautiful! I am sorry for everyone that have gotten so much snow. We woke up to only about an inch here in my part of Colorado - but it is still drifting down a little - but we are only expecting about 3". I am going to finish appliqueing the border of a wedding quilt (May) during the football game today, then I can sandwich & start quilting. Keep warm everyone and stay safe while shoveling!
