I hadn't heard that. I have a pile and I use each one 5-6 times so many are brightly colored. I had always thought I'd find a use for them some day but haven't. Let me know how you do.

TG, I didn't know you can reuse color catchers! I will have to do that.

Beverly, they seem kind of heavy and stiff for foundation piecing, since the foundation stays in. Also seem kind of small unless you are piecing small blocks! LOL

I haven't heard anything about not using them, though...unless it's possible they could release the colors they've "caught".

I've always wondered if they could be sewn into a quilt and still collect dye that's released as the quilt is washed later on.

I've not heard anything about NOT using them, though I agree with Donna that they are a bit heavy for foundation piecing.

My thought was to use them a foundations for a strip quilt that would be used in the camper. It would need to be a sturdy quilt, so being a bit heavy may not be a bad thing. Most of them have been through the washer 3-4 times so don't think they will be gaining or losing colors at this point. Sound reasonable?

I did not realize color catchers could be regularly re-used...learn sumptin new everyday!

As far as I'm concerned a color catcher that's been used a couple of times has done its job and deserves to be discarded.

Reuse color catchers????? The ones that stick to the insides of my HE washer -- they get reused automatically -- but mostly.....they fall out of the washer when I load the clothes or fabric into the dryer, and my devil dog brings them to us while we eat dinner so she can get extra treats! every. single.night. When she (the devil dog) is missing, she is in the small laundry room looking for color catchers.
I find bits of used color catchers everywhere, so I could never consider re - purposing them. LOL
