| Hello! Just wanted to let Cheryl,Darlene(Chickie 1),Sharon, and Jayne know that I have received my beautiful batik and black birthday blocks. My birthday isn't until next week but I couldn't wait. I LOVE them!!! Thank you! Judy |

| Of course you couldn't wait! And there's no reason you should have! You know we're going to want a picture of all those beauties. Something I might recommend is to put the name of the block-maker on a seamline on the back of the block if they didn't sign it. Makes it much easier to remember who it's from...at least it does for me. @:) Sharon |

| Sharon - are we suppose to sign the blocks??? How do we do that? Please share. Judy, your block is going to the post office today. Your block was my inspiration for the BOM I'm doing w/the BA Kate organized. I needed your completed block to find the "perfect black" for the background I needed - it should have been mailed immediately after I finished it, but it has been out shopping with me :). I hope you like it. This is my first B'Day Block exchange - it is fun to be part of this. |

Just wanted to comment on the issue of signing the blocks. I would recommend that you do not sign them unless the birthday person asks you to do that. I have been in this swap for 2 years prior to being hostess and we have not been signing them. Something permanent to the block should be at the option of the recipient and if the birthday person wants to, he or she can write it on the seam line at a later time. Just my 2 cents worth...

| ok....I won't sign them anymore.....I usually put it on the seam allowance where the fabric is doubled. SharonG/FL |

Please do not think you did the wrong thing by signing the blocks! The question simply had not come up before. (The hostess learns a lot the first year of being hostess! LOL)
Also, I think your technique of signing them on the seam allownace is a WONDERFUL one. We may hear from someone in the groups who will like to have them signed like that or who will want to add the names that way after they receive their blocks. I guess my problem is I couldn't write that small to keep them a quarter inch in height. LOL Gwen, I see you, too, are cold. On the weather last evening they said this was the longest period of consecutive very cold nights that we have had in 25 years! If it's this cold in the south, I can imagine how cold everyone else is!

| Judy - mailed your block today. The postmaster was happy with me - sent to 2 provinces in Canada, several US states and an envelope to Australia. Hopefully the pony express will get it to you soon. If it's not right, please let me know. I selected a block I thought would show off the fabric well, and after it was made, I realized it was only a 10" block. | Good Morning Patchwork Pines! Just wanted to let Meima know I received my b-day blocks yesterday. The 3 blocks are beautiful-that was so nice of you to send the extras!!! I hope to take a pic and post it sometime this weekend. Thank you also Meima for the pocket calendar. Maybe it will help to keep me organized! The Patchwork group is so talented!
