2 Coverlets for Haiti

The first one, the top is all gingham squares....don't know why the red squares look so weird. It was a UFO that one day I just had to sew and the squares were handy so that's what I did. It's 42"X68". The second one is a D9P using novelty prints in the 4 corners of the 9-patch and is backed with muslin......42" square.

How generous of you 'sharon. Both quilts are just perfect for a little one that needs some cuddling. Those poor children will needs lots of loving things to get them through life. I hope soon they will let groups send quilts, toys, etc. Jeane |

So sweet of you - by the way, did you use batting, and I can't tell if you used binding, or did you just use 2 layers and sew them together like a pillow and then turn it right side out?? Rita |

They are both lovely Sharon, but the D9P is striking!!! We have a Haitian fam living here that lost many close relatives. Our town has an account set up for donations. So sad and heart breaking. Rosa |

| Thank you, everyone. Our family has been supporting certain Haitian missionarys for about 30 years, so we know where our donations are going. Jeane, Salijo's church sends a mission team twice a year to Haiti as they sponsor a church school and food for the approx 120 kids. The pastor plans on going down next week and taking a look for himself as their group is in the back country. They've been told the church building is destroyed. Rita, No batting.....2 layers and I did the 'birthing' method on these, but could also bring the backing to the front and sew down like binding. This is going to be an on-going project as it will take a while for them to rebuild and they can at least have a coverlet to use in the meantime. Sharon |

| well done, what a wonderful heart you have. Those poor people have nothing - we have Shelter Box here and they have been sending their boxes out each week another 2000 going this Friday - this gives a tent and equipment for a family to live in. Our local radio station raised enough money to buy more than 20 boxes last week, each box costs about £450 |

| Ann, With the worldwide help they're getting, you'd think things would be further along than they are, but with the leaders being Haitian, they 'think' Haitian and cannot comprehend the magnitude of skill that's needed in so many areas. They need some organizational help, that's for sure. That's a great idea to have a box per family. I like it! SharonG/FL |

I can't believe they have found people alive after 15 days, it is amazing. We had missionaries from Savannah area there when the quake happened. They were sent home and criticized for coming home until they explained that they decided to come back and leave as much food and supplies as possible for the others. They plan to go back after more supplies get to the needy. Rosa |

Sharon I ordered my kit from the Downy Kids and they also donate to The Bridge of Children Orphanage, Haiti and Ronald McDonald nationwide. I know both of these are close to your heart. Rosa |

| Thank you, Rosa. Yes, Ronald McDonald House and Haitian orphanages are always in need....just so sad. By today's society/standards, I'm poor, but really, I'm blessed. SharonG/FL |
