Prayer Needed

As you know, after having difficulty getting pregnant, our fourth great-grandchild is due Dec 22. The ultrasound today showed it is a girl but that one of the chambers of her heart is large. They have been sent to a specialist for a second opinion and another ultrasound. Julie lost her mother 3 years ago and her father 2 years ago...both around her birthday which is in 2 weeks. She has certainly been strong through all of this adversity and has been able to take care of things as there isn't anyone else except her younger brother (who needs guiding). My DD said my grandson is 'subdued' at this time. I love these kids so much....please help me pray.

I heard from Julie today. She sounds upbeat and says she is doing better after feeling like having a breakdown. Her appt with the specialist is in two weeks. I told her this is going to help 'up' my patience level. lol I'll keep you updated when I hear anything.

After having a second ultrasound with a specialist, the news is not good. The baby has complex heart disease and
one ventricle in her brain is larger than another. They did an amniocentesis to determine if there is a chromosomal defect. It will be 10-14 days before getting those results. We're all devestated and my heart just aches for them.

Thank you everyone for your prayers. Until the results are in, they're trying to go on as normal. We're all praying and holding fast to our faith.

We still have a little over three months to go until little Raina's birth, but we received incredible news today. The results of the amnio showed NO CHROMOSOMAL DEFECT! This was the worse case scenario that the doctors gave my son and his wife....of course, we knew there was a whole spectrum of problems that could arise out of something like that, depending on which chromosomes were affected.

So where we are now is....we still have a baby with a serious heart condition, although it's possible (pending another ultrasound later this month) that she will not have to have immediate heart surgery and may possibly not have to be born at the children's hospital in Indiapolis. They may allow the birth to be local with the surgery to be done later. The reasoning is that there would be a strong likelihood of an immediate need for surgery should there have been a chromosome disorder...they felt the baby may not survive long outside of the womb.

We still don't know the answers as to why one brain ventrical is larger than the other, but my son says that the doctors are acting like it's not something urgent at this point.

I want to thank all of you for your continued prayers for our family. Please know that they are being heard.

And here's another beautiful baby ..... my other newest grandaughter Addison...she's 2-1/2 months old now.

Salijo, I missed this post earlier. How stressful for everyone, especially the parents.I will pray for you. They know there are no chromo. defects,so that's a big relief. Surgery can do amazing things these days,so stay positive.

    Addison is precious -beautiful eyes.
